유명 타이 음식 전문점 PAI (파이) 토론토가 한 주방직원이 COVID-19 양성반응을 보인 후 일시적으로 문을 닫게 되었다.

PAI 인스타그램 계정에 게재된 성명에서 경영자인 제프 레귤러 씨는 이 직원의 마지막  근무가 8월 3일이라고 밝혔다. 엔터테인먼트 디스트릭에 위치한 PAI 는 현재 소독중이며. 나머지 직원들은 테스트를 받고 자가 격리되어 있다고 밝혔다. 제프 씨는 다른 직원들은 증상을 보이지 않고 있다고 덧붙였다.
그는 "우리가 다시 열기 안전하다고 느낄 때 음성 반응이 나온 팀원들과만 다시 열 것", "바이러스에 영향을 받은 멤버가 빨리 회복하기를 바란다. 예약하셨던 모든 분들께 사과드린다" 고 말했다. 

PAI 의 임시 휴업은 토론토가 온타리오의 재개장 계획 3단계에 진입한 지 일주일도 채 되지 않아 일어났다. 레스토랑과 바는 3단계에서 다시 문을 열 수 있는 비지니스들 중 하나이다.
토론토가 3단계에 진입하기 전에 시의회는 식당과 술집에 대한 추가적인 공중보건 조치를 제정한 바 있다.
이 규칙에는 테이블 크기 제한, 연락처 추적, 화장실을 사용하거나 요금을 지불할 때를 제외하고 고객들은 계속 앉아 있어야 한다는 요구사항이 포함되어 있다.
지난 7월 캐나다 통계청의 노동력 조사에 의하면 식품 서비스 분야에서 일하던 최소 40만 명의 사람들이 여전히 실직 상태인 것으로 알려졌다.

While we were looking forward to welcoming you back in our doors, we unfortunately have to close them again. In these challenging times, we believe complete transparency is the only way forward. We regret to announce that a team member in the kitchen has tested positive for COVID-19. The team member, whose last shift at Pai was on Monday, went to get tested out of precaution and is currently quarantining at home. We have immediately closed our restaurant until further notice for deep sanitation and the full team at Pai is being tested and in self-isolation, although no other team members are experiencing symptoms. We will only reopen when we feel it is safe to do so and only with team members who have tested negative. Our thoughts are with our teammate and we wish everyone who has been directly affected by this devasting virus a speedy recovery. We apologize to everyone who had upcoming reservations for the inconvenience, and we look forward to welcoming you back at Pai very soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️
